Manufacturing data warehouse — ETL infrastructure analysis
Managed this project and provided technical architecture expertise for small team of DBA's carrying out analysis of current ETL infrastructure for materials tracking data store for this company's printer cartridge manufacturing operation. System comprised multiple database platforms from multiple production lines feeding large volumes of data into central Operational Data Store that in turn fed a data warehouse (approx 1.5 terabytes) storing long-term summary data.
Based on analysis of current ETL activities for a model system based on a custom coded solution, future ETL infrastructure for large-scale international deployment was derived. To provide a basis for hardware sizing and a level of confidence in the proposed solution, elements of the solution were implemented and tested over a three-week period and a results analysis document was produced.
